Home-made Bircher museli



Today is my birthday.

But this really is not my point.




My point is: out of 365 days,
My body picked today to torture me with insomnia.
(...I probably fell asleep at 2...and my eyes were wide open by 6...)




Life is great. It truly is.




To cheer myself up,
I made this adorable naturally-sweet Bircher museli for the long day.

And here I am -
can't wait to share with you how delicious, even virtuous, it is.

[LDN] Arbutus*



Arbutus
Soho一星,就在Barrafina前方
Arbutus喜用local produce,
尤其喜歡零星的奇怪食材,
如是夜menu上看到的pigs head, sea purslane, salsify....etc

早回提過,Antony Demetre其下的Wild HoneyLe Deux Salons都試過了,
說實沒有超級喜歡,只是價錢合理,ok好吃是了...
Arbutus又如何呢?




是夜的valentines menu是£65 for 3 courses. 比平日貴了大概四成.
每個course有 6-7 choices,跟平日差不多

home away from home



英國中學(又)開始放假
很多朋友的弟妹都熱切期待下城鬧一番
朋友們都為止樂此不疲,花盡心思安排最好的活動和飯局
想起前些哥哥造訪也曾不計忙碌的奔波過,
確實深深理解他們此刻的心情
人在異鄉,可依靠的人少之又少
沒什麼比親情來得更真摰


正當年青人都衝進城之際,
小妹卻偷得浮生半日閒,溜到一個定居北部的姨姨家
今天是元宵節,要團圓團圓
要不是去了打攪姨姨,大概只會獨自糊里糊塗的過了吧(?)
姨姨一家跟我一樣熱愛烹飪,心思都花在吃的
我們弄著各式各樣的茶點佳餚,一時看書,一時喝茶,好不快活!




花園後邊的山坡,每早也有小羊在吃草!

認識它的原因是因為one of my fav bloggers, London Eater, 讚不絕口

這這夫妻店其小,只能容納九人eat in (3 by the sushi bar, 6 facing the window)
除了a la carte外,omakase由£30-50
是夜我們取中間,訂了£40的

[LDN] Wild Honey*



又backlog了很多,
讀書讀茫了,唉
趁情人節繼續偷懶,更新一下...




Wild Honey啦
跟之前寫過的Le Deux Salons是姊妹店,
是Michlin一星的佳麗,主打bistro-style dishes
是比較輕鬆的french裡帶點優雅

(小女今晚也是到其集團的Arbutus,遲些再update大家 ;D )




因為吃得早的關係所以有Pre Theatre menu (Mon-Fri 6-7pm) £22.95
見選擇也不錯,就這樣決定了

麵包是冷的,有white or brown
牛油也沒什麼特別




遠距離見到cheese tray




Potato soup, mackerel rilettes

我的頭盤
很少在餐廳遇到薯仔湯
這裡的都ok,薯仔味頗濃的,配上macerkal造的rilette(跟pate無兩)

Baked eggs



曾幾何時,說過會多寫寫[煮飯仔]的entry


這道Baked eggs是最近發現的好菜,
是清理雪櫃堆積的食材,
使它們化身為色香味俱全的健康餸菜


材料很簡單也很flexible,
一般根據心情和物資決定
但常用的有tomato, spinach, onion....
deluxe 點的可加 ham, sausages, smoked salmon...
絕對任你配搭


方法如下
(為求方便,我決定用英文。 哈哈)


The idea is simple.
You get your fillings cooked,
season well,
add the eggs,
and bake.
DONE.



PREHEAT oven to 200 degrees Celsius.




While waiting, CUT your vegetables into large chucks. (Eg tomato, broccoli, onion....)
If you'd like to add in some raw meat eg sausages, chicken slices, cut them into smaller pieces too.
You want all your ingredients to be done approximately the same time.
So pay attention to sizes.

[LDN] E11even park walk

Eleven park walk
是近South Kensington新開張不久的意大利餐廳。
不說不知,這地址更是Gordan Ramsay第一間成名餐廳的舊址





麵包籃有三款: white, brown和有 olive的
跟French截然不同, 甚有rustic feel.
雖然是冷的,但點上甚為甘醇的olive oil ,也頗好吃




沿路走過來,這地段原來還蠻多食市的
七時到達,竟然是第一台客,坐在最外邊
weekday晚上也有80%滿





那晚有兩個menu,分別是a la carte和truffle menu。
truffle menu顧名思義是主打用上黑松露的菜式。
由頭盤到甜點都有,當然索價也不菲!
最激動的大概是dessert (Hazelnut Gelato with Black Truffle and Hazelnuts)!
要£20!




Appetizer

Penne with pork cheek, tomato sauce and pecorino cheese £12







Pork cheek 切成小小的像煙肉粒般,差點兒找不到lol
Pasta較一般吃的硬身,好有嚼頭
味道方面tomato味濃郁醒胃,
我蠻喜歡,但男友什至覺得吃多了有點太濃哈哈

p.s. 這個很大碟,我吃完的話大概已可跳到甜品了...





Creamy Burrata cheese with caponata £12


屬fresh cheese一種的burrata比mozerella還要軟綿綿,柔膩無比
墊底的caponata是一個源於Sicily的cooked vegetable salad,以茄子為主
配上甜醋, a drizzle of olive oil 和 rocket隱約的peppery味....
....nomnom........令人回味
